All I can say is....

Boy oh boy...has it ever been busy! Did you know that there is something better than being a teacher?!?!

It is being a grandma...We had our granddaughter this weekend and we took her to her first horse show with her pony.."Friday." Skyler and Friday brought home a blue ribbon, and in the words of a 4 1/2 year old, it was the best day ever!

So much for getting ANYTHING caught up (this weekend at least!)

Map Out Your Year……

Wouldn't it be nice to map out your Reading and Writing Workshop plan for the year?  Well, this is exactly what my district did last year.

Together with my partner-in-crime, Deedee Wills, we mapped out the "Big Ideas" we would introduce to our kindergarten kiddos.

I hope you find these useful.  If you like what you see, please consider following my blog.  There are more ideas where that came from!

Oh... and I love comments!!

MO Kindergarten Conference

I am soooo excited to be at the Missouri Kindergarten Conference at Lake of the Ozarks! My fellow kindergarten teachers are joining me for a fun filled and exciting couple of days. I always love attending this conference, middle of the summer so gets me excited to return to school! The key note speakers are Donna Whyte and Maryann Harman!

I have my BUILD info ready to post but can’t quite figure out how to merge all of my PDF’s into one file without buying a program (according to my searching). If someone knows a different way please holler at me! :0) Also had a couple of files that I left out of my FACE download at TpT (grab it here if your interested).  I have added it in google docs. CLICK ON THE FACE PIC to get the “tags.”

More FROG Theme downloads coming your way…

Just finished my 2nd Masters class today…all about Understanding Backwards Design! Loved the class and can’t wait to use it in lesson/unit planning!

I will be posting my B.U.I.L.D math centers headings that I post on the wall above my math tubs. Here is a picture from my classroom…

I have many others, as well as pictures of my FACE wall, have to track them down, think they are on my old laptop.

I appreciate all of the downloads and comments about my FACE letters that I posted on TpT,

As I was looking for BUILD pictures I noticed that I forgot a file to include. Have to make a trip to school to get a different jump drive! Hope the janitors will let me in for just a minute. Will post that free to go along with the FACE!

My First TpT Posting

I just posted my Frog theme bulletin board headers for my D5/FACE  on TpT. I refer to it as FACE instead of CAFÉ, my K/1 kiddos relate more to it being “The FACE of a Reader” instead of “CAFÉ menu” I hope you can use it! I will be sharing other FROG related items that I have created, but I too, (as my good pal at First Grade Owls) should be working on my action research paper. :0/

Christmas in July Picture Book & Activity Exchange

Randee-I am SO excited to be joining you and Nicole in this fun giveaway...

So, Randee says...with all of the recent giveaways, I started thinking about

in July!

Which made me think of receiving packages in the mail. I {LOVE} getting packages in the mail! It is so much fun to open them (even if you ordered and paid for AND know what is in them).  When they finally arrive at your doorstep...sometimes it really does feel like Christmas, or a birthday, or any other gift receiving event!
I mean who doesn't love to get "gifts" in the mail?!?!
(Don't get me's also great to give gifts, too!  I love to brighten days w/ surprise gifts!)

All which led me to the idea of a
Christmas in July
Picture Book & Activity Exchange!
(I'm feeling a little bit like the mouse in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!)

I've talked two of my blogging buddies (Nicole at First Grade O.W.L.s and Randee at How Bout Those Apples) into cohosting the exchange with me...and we're hoping it's going to be LOTS of fun!

Now for the details:

Painting My Room

I am not much of a painter but I enjoyed adding a "splash of color" to my room. I also have everything pushed to the center to allow the painting to take place-next it's time to get it off the floor so they can be stripped and waxed!

The color...Louisville Mint Julip!

Math Work Stations Blog Party Ch. 1 and 2

I am very new to this blogging! I love being a "stalker" and feel very comfy following all of your things and do lots of "saving" and "organizing" files to keep track, I can usually put my finger on a resource if need be for a teacher pal! I am hoping to get it off to a good start with this school year. I am going back to get a new group of kinders!

Math Work Stations

1. Materials used by teacher first, then placed in stations. sometimes
2. Materials do not change weekly, but rather change to reflect objective. they did change
3. All students go to stations daily. YES!!
4. Materials are differentiated. No... :0((
5. The teacher observes work or meets with differentiated math groups. Yes...used the D5 concept for conferring notes and working with my groups.

I have used the "BUILD" acronym for the past 2 years and it has worked well for we will see what changes this may bring about...definantly looking for more differentiating.

Deedee...I need some blogging lessons! :0)
